ANGELIQUE ASHBY VIOLATED PLEDGE NOT TO TAKE FOSSIL FUEL PAC MONEY

State Senate District 8 Candidate Angelique Ashby took direct campaign contributions from a PAC funded by Chevron, which has also funded independent expenditures supporting her campaign.

Sacramento, CA – Despite public statements to the contrary, candidate for state senate district 8 Angelique Ashby has violated the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge by accepting a direct $4,900 contribution from a fossil fuel-funded political action committee (PAC) –Californians for Jobs and a Strong Economy. Chevron and Valero are major funders of Californians for Jobs and a Strong Economy. The same Chevron-funded PAC has also contributed to independent expenditure efforts supporting her campaign and attacking Dave Jones for State Senate. 

Angelique Ashby has publicly claimed to have signed the No Fossil Money Pledge.  The No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge includes a pledge not to accept contributions from oil company funded Political Action Committees (PACs).   On March 2, 2022 Angelique Ashby accepted a maximum contribution from Californians for Jobs and a Strong Economy, a PAC funded by Chevron and Valero.  https://www.davejonesforsenate.com/bigoil/

“Angelique Ashby has violated the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge. She accepted a maximum contribution from a Chevron-funded PAC, a PAC which has also spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting her Senate campaign and falsely attacking Dave Jones,” said Igor Tregub, Chairperson, Environmental Caucus of the California Democratic Party.  “Voters deserve to know the truth: Angelique Ashby violated the pledge not to take contributions from PACs funded by Big Oil.”
