Sacramento, CA – Equality California announced its endorsement of Dave Jones for State Senate. Equality California joins a growing list of over 400 elected and community leaders and organizations supporting Dave Jones.

Equality California Executive Director Tony Hoang released the following statement announcing the endorsement:
“Dave Jones is deeply committed to advancing equity and has been a champion for the LGBTQ+ community in his work. As California Insurance Commissioner, Dave issued first-in-the-nation regulations to protect the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination and required health insurers to cover transgender people. We are proud to stand with Dave Jones’ campaign.”

For over 20 years, Equality California has led the Golden State’s fight for LGBTQ+ civil rights and social justice. Originally founded in 1999 as the California Alliance for Pride and Equality (CAPE), CAPE became Equality California in 2003 then merged with Marriage Equality California in 2004 into what ultimately became the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization.

Equality California worked with the California Legislature to pass the strongest statewide civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ people in the country, and helped to elect hundreds of pro-equality candidates to office — up and down the ballot — building a robust bench of LGBTQ+ and allied leaders to champion the LGBTQ+ cause and fight for full lived equality.
